First week of school…

Hello everyone,

So I had my first full week at work and I am getting ready for my first week of school at a new school with a new role for me. Unfortunately my first week didn’t go quite as I planned.

I had hoped to meet the families and students during the supply pick up days, but on the first day, I arrived at school and as I was getting ready to help set things up, I slipped in the parking lot and fell. I fell on my knee and at the time it looked like a scrape but it started bleeding a lot and getting purple immediately. So, I had to come back home, clean the wound (which by the time I got home looked awful and huge), I put my leg up and some ice on it so that it would not swell up too much.

Long story short, It has been 5 days and I am still walking funny, I also hurt my back in the process so lots of heat packs too. This is not how I had planned to get the year started but I also remember that my first day of teaching at Storm Lake High School/Iowa Central Community College, I stepped backwards and sliced my foot on an old desk that was rusted. I had a lot of blood and students had to run out to get paper towels for me. (I guess that might have been a memorable moment for them too.)

Well, at least this year we can do everything from home so I have all my classes planned for this week and I feel very well prepared for the first week of school. I found that I really like planning the classes online and preparing the slides and finding new ways to make them fun and engaging. I am so happy when I am playing around the computer and finding new ideas and learning new things. I shared my plans for the first couple days of class with my co-workers and I am not sure how it was received. But this is what I do and what I am good at…
