Movie date with my youngest…

Hello and happy Wednesday before Thanksgiving day,

Today was the day to take my 10-year-old to the movies to watch Wonder. (Great movie but I cried from beginning to end)

Normally I am not big on ripped pants but these ones are not too bad, no skin shows and some of the rips even have fabric underneath it. I like them because they are comfortable, skinny jeans (so I can wear with boots) and makes me feel a little edgy. Some could say I am too old for them but I think I can still pull these ones off. The jeans came from Maurices and so did the undershirt – burnout white long sleeves top. The vest was a gift and it is reversible. Not sure where my friend got it though. The scarf is from Target. Great scarf because it goes with just about everything. The boots I got from JustFab. They are very comfortable because I wore them all day and no pain, and I went out shopping twice. Can you tell I like shopping? This time, however, it was all Christmas presents for my kids and my husband. I am all done Christmas shopping. It feels good to be done this early – hopefully this means less stress, right?

As always, thank you for reading!

You can look cute even when working out…

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, I went hiking with my husband and wore this outfit. I got stopped a few times by other hikers about my outfit. They couldn’t believe I looked so put together for a hike. I always figure I should look nice no matter what I am doing. Believe it or not, the leggings are from Victoria’s Secret and they are very comfortable. The shirt and tennis shoes are both Nike so they match perfectly. I thought it was pretty funny that I got so many compliments and to be honest, that was a day I decided I should do something where I could share my thoughts about fashion. If complete strangers like how I dress then maybe I have something to share with the world. I hope you all agree…

Till next time…

Pretty nails…

Hello,

On this post I will talk about my nails. I used to have very strong and long natural nails when I lived in Brazil. I think the water in the midwest was too harsh on my nails and they became very weak. So just before I moved to the NW I decided to try the solar acrylic nails and I love them now. I even got my mom to get addicted to them. I am known for having all kinds of different colors and designs. This week I went much simpler but I am obviously ready for the holidays. Sparkly red and silver… I love having my nails done and after I started getting my pedicure done and my toe nails colored I believe my self-esteem has gotten better. I love looking at my toes all pretty and colorful.

So, my suggestion is, when you are feeling down, get your toes done and that should help you feel pretty. I am not sure why, but it certainly did the trick for me. I, personally, use shellac on my toes so they last longer especially in the fall and winter when we wear closed toe shoes. I do them for me, because others don’t even see them since I am wearing boots most of the time now. We should do things that makes us feel good and pretty. I spent too much time feeling sorry for myself because I had gained weight. It is not worth it! I now embrace my curves and find clothes that make me feel pretty. If I can find other things that help me feel pretty than why not? Like hair and nails….

Thank you,

Juliana

A typical fall outfit…

Happy Sunday!

Now, this is a nice warm and comfy outfit for a breezy winter day. It is also very neutral and the boots could be of different colors.  I have even worn booties with this outfit and it worked too. My personal favorite is wearing the boot cuffs. I have a whole bunch of them of different styles, different colors and different materials. They can work as a pop of color or just for fun inside your boots. I have to say that the part that made the most success though was the elephant necklace. Everyone asked me what it was made of and where I got it. No surprise the necklace came from Maurices but it is from last year or even longer.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed all my pictures so far. Stay tuned for more to come this coming week.

And today I had some fun with outfits, make up and lots of pictures…

Hello everyone,

Today was a day to get things going for this blog. I am lucky enough to have a husband who takes pictures for a hobby. I hope you enjoy the pictures and outfits. I thought I would try several different looks to give you an idea of what my style is like. I will be honest, I hardly ever wear makeup so it was fun trying something different for a change. We went all over town to get pictures taken and I am sure others thought we were a bit odd. I even had a college student who was working on a photography project ask to take some portrait pictures. Not sure what those will look like but oh well… I figured since I was all dolled up, why not?

It was a beautiful day out and not too cold so I was able to wear the outfits outside without freezing. I had a blast playing model too. I will post some specifics shortly.

Thanks for your time,

Juliana

Hello everyone,

This outfit is a compilation of different pieces from different places. The shirt is from Maurices and it is a plus size shirt. I love it because it is not tight but not too big either. It is really soft too which helps a lot. The green scarf I have had for a while so it would be hard to tell where to buy it. The black pants are fairly new and I got them at Target. It is somewhat a newer brand they are selling and I absolutely love it. The shoes are my favorite brand from Brazil – Melissa. I love them because they are great for the rainy weather of Portland and the best part is that they smell like candy inside no matter how long I wear them. The best part is that they can be bought in different places in the US. Melissa Women’s Space Love Flats, Pink/Black, 9 B(M) US

Dressing up…

This gray dress is from Maurices and it is a great piece to have in the wardrobe, it dresses up and down fairly easy depending on the shoes and accessories you use with it. The sweater is old enough that where I bought it does not even sell clothes anymore. The boots are quite a show stopper though. They are still around I believe…

They are fun, full of bling and sure to give a pop to any outfit.

Beautiful fall day…

Hello everyone,

This is a very colorful fall outfit. As you may know by now, a lot of my clothes come from Maurices and the denim shirt is no different. I like it because it is long enough to be worn almost as a dress with leggings and and it is nice and soft and not stiff like many denim shirts can be. The leggings are from LulaRoe and super soft. The scarf is older and I know I got it at TJMax a long time ago. I think there are still some similar ones out there but not sure if the exact same. – Sorry  🙁

The booties(Rampage Verna Ankle Boot Bootie with Wraparounds 8.5 Black) are a great addition to any wardrobe since it is a neutral color and very comfortable. I like the beige because it literally matches any of my outfits even though I have way too many shoes and probably wouldn’t need to have one pair that matches everything… hehehehe

Fall colors and colorful leggings…

This outfit was a new combination for me. I mixed and matched some older pieces with newer ones. The pants are the same as the ones I wore with the denim tunic but here I am wearing them with a Columbia Quilted dark gray skirt and a Maurices burnout shirt and the new gray vest I just got a week ago at Marshalls. It worked and if I say so myself, it looked really nice with the colors of the tree leaves.

I have to say that while we were taking these pictures a university student approached us because he is working on a photography project for a class and needed people for portraits. I let him take as many pictures as he wanted… Not sure what they look like so hoping for the best at this point.

These shoes are also Melissa and great for rainy weather.

Why not be vulnerable?

Hello everyone,

Today I chose a more classic outfit. It was a rainy day and the dark color pants seem appropriate. They are actually denim trousers and look professional. I took a big risk when I bought them since I did it online. They are from Maurices so I had a good guess they would fit me but you just never know with pants and buying them without trying them on.

The boots are the most comfortable ones I have, they are my first Sorel pair and a bit more expensive than I would like to admit but I see the appeal now. I can wear them all day and no pain at all. I have to say I like wearing a tank that has some detail to offset the plain color sweater. I think it seals the deal and goes with the scarf.

Here is the part where I am vulnerable… you will notice my hair changes quite a bit from one picture to another. One of the things that makes me very self-conscious is my thinning hair on top of my head. So I have found a few solutions for it now and I am totally enjoying and having fun experimenting. I have come to the conclusion that life is too short to feel so self-conscious to the point of embarrassment. So if I can find creative solutions I will and this blog is a creative solution to feel better about myself and overcome my issues with being overweight. I guess, I might as well embrace my curves and show the world that I can look good regardless of my size.

I hope you guys enjoy reading my blog and about my experiences with clothing and shopping. I am hoping to share even more in the next few days.

Thanks,

Juliana
